Jacob Maust grew up in Somerset, Pennsylvania and started his culinary career at Indiana University of Pennsylvania Academy of Culinary Arts. There he graduated with a degree in Culinary Arts and an associate degree in Baking and Pastry Arts. Since graduating, Jacob has held various positions in the field honing his skill and craft in the kitchen.
In 2017, Jacob moved to the Asheville area to start his externship at Biltmore. After his externship he worked in various family owned restaurants in WNC as a Sous and Executive Chef. During this time he has increased his cooking knowledge, learned to lead a team, thrived in high-paced environments, and found a passion for handmade pastas. In the summer of 2023, Jacob became the Sous Chef of Avenue M where he has had a strong influence on the menu alongside Executive Chef, Zack Ghidotti. Here he has created and contributed flavorful dishes that keep guests coming back for more.
When Jacob isn’t found at AVE M, he can be found in Marion, where he recently purchased his first home with his fiancee Kayla. They both enjoy spending their time with their two dogs Beckham and Finnick.
